An Item tin the FT by Tim Bradshaw in London August 11 2020
Pilots addressed this problem decades ago. Aviation works to ‘Zulu’ time which is the same as UTC. Times are either ‘local’ or ‘Zulu’. This eliminates problems when calculating flight durations across times zones and seasonal changes.
‘Zulu’ is simply the phonic pronunciation of ‘Z’ to make is more clear when speaking via radio.
No need to reinvent the wheel.
